Interview with the LCI Team

3 Agosto 2026

Life Cycle Indonesia (LCI) is a sustainability consultancy with extensive experience in life cycle assessment (LCA) and sustainability reporting. Over the years, the company has supported numerous organizations in preparing Sustainability Reports aligned with international reporting standards, as well as in meeting ESG rating and assessment requirements.

In addition, the company has developed easySR, an integrated software solution that supports the end-to-end management of environmental, social, and governance reporting. As a fellow member of the SimaPro Global Partner Network and a long-standing partner of 2B, LCI joined us to discuss easySR, its main functionalities, and the role it can play in supporting sustainability reporting.

  1. LCI works with a wide range of international clients. Could you share examples of how these clients have implemented easySR and, where possible, the concrete results they have achieved?

Over the years, LCI has supported companies across multiple sectors. A key milestone was our collaboration with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) to help MSMEs (Medium Small Micro Enterprises) strengthen their sustainability reporting through easySR.

Through this initiative, easySR became a practical, structured digital solution for companies—especially first-time reporters—to navigate the complexity of sustainability standards in a manageable way.

Many MSMEs previously relied on scattered spreadsheets and manual consolidation. By implementing easySR, they transitioned to a unified, single-source platform. As a result, they were able to:

  • Centralize and organize sustainability data
  • Streamline data collection through easy-to-understand, pre-mapped forms aligned with global standards
  • Automate materiality survey management and stakeholder feedback analysis
  • Improve collaboration through role-based access and tiered approvals
  • Track progress in real time, enhancing accountability and transparency

For reporters, easySR provided not just a tool, but a clear and guided pathway to confidently structure and align their reports with international standards.

  1. You have a long expertise on Sustainability Reporting but easySR is a recent addition. How and why did you come up with this all in one platform?

The idea for easySR arose from a recurring concern we observed in the market. Many companies were preparing Sustainability Reports independently or using tools that lacked strong methodological guidance. As a result, reports were not always fully aligned with recognized standards or structured in a way that clearly reflected actual performance.

At the same time, high-quality consulting support is not always affordable—particularly for small and mid-sized companies. We saw a clear need for a solution that combines accessibility with technical rigor.

easySR was developed to bridge that gap. We embedded LCI’s expertise (in writing sustainability reports for various sectors for many standards/ratings) into a guided, step-by-step digital platform, translating complex disclosure requirements into structured, pre-mapped questions and integrated workflows.

In short, easySR makes sustainability reporting more accessible while maintaining the quality, transparency, and standards alignment that credible reporting requires.

  1. What does the onboarding journey look like for companies moving from manual reporting to easySR?

The onboarding journey in easySR is intentionally simple and structured into three main steps:

  1. Material Topic Selection

Companies begin by identifying their material topics through a ready-to-use, industry-tailored materiality survey. The platform manages stakeholder input and automatically analyzes and ranks results—helping organizations define their priority topics in a structured and transparent way.

  1. Information Gathering

Once material topics are defined, companies proceed with structured data collection. easySR provides pre-mapped, easy-to-understand questions aligned with selected standards. Teams can collaborate within the platform, assign responsibilities, and centralize all sustainability data in one place.

  1. Review & Finalize the Report

In the final stage, companies review the predefined report structure, validate inputs through an approval system, and finalize the content. The platform supports structured drafting to ensure alignment with standards and consistency across disclosures.

Through these three steps, companies move from fragmented manual processes to a guided, systematic, and efficient reporting workflow.

  1. Many small and mid-sized companies are concerned about the cost of sustainability reporting. What features or pricing models make easySR accessible for them?

We understand that cost is a significant concern, particularly for SMEs.

easySR was designed to reduce both direct and indirect reporting costs by:

  • Eliminating repetitive manual consolidation work
  • Avoiding duplicated data entry across standards
  • Reducing dependency on full external consultancy hours
  • Shortening preparation timelines

Because the platform centralizes the entire reporting workflow, companies save on coordination time and internal resources.

Moreover, easySR offers scalability. Smaller companies can start with essential modules and expand as their sustainability maturity grows. This modular and structured approach makes professional-grade sustainability reporting accessible without requiring large consulting budgets.

  1. easySR is an all-in-one platform for sustainability reporting. How does it leverage this integrated approach to maintain and at the same time guarantee high quality and accuracy in reports?

First, all disclosures are pre-mapped to selected standards. This reduces interpretation errors and ensures consistency across frameworks.

Second, the platform enforces structured data entry rather than narrative-only reporting. This improves comparability and reduces omissions.

Third, the approval system ensures that:

  • Data is validated by responsible departments
  • Management can review before publication
  • A clear traceability trail is maintained

Finally, easySR is backed by LCI’s technical expertise. The methodology embedded in the platform reflects real consulting practice, ensuring alignment with international best practices.

  1. How do you see the future of digital ESG reporting in the next 10 years?

Over the next decade, ESG reporting will move from static annual disclosures to dynamic, data-driven management systems.

We anticipate several key trends:

  1. Full digitalization ESG data will increasingly integrate with ERP and operational systems.
  2. Regulatory convergence and standard harmonization Companies will need tools that map multiple frameworks simultaneously.
  3. Real-time analytics and dashboard reporting Stakeholders will expect more frequent updates rather than annual PDF reports.
  4. AI-supported reporting and assurance readiness Automation will help detect inconsistencies, gaps, and risks earlier.
  5. From compliance to strategic decision-making ESG data will directly inform business strategy, risk management, and investment decisions.

In this context, platforms like easySR represent the transition from manual compliance exercises to structured digital sustainability management systems.

The future of ESG reporting is not just about publishing better reports—it is about building smarter systems.
